How a shipment travels from Jeddah to Morocco

Jeddah is the departure point itself: after packing at your home the container usually reaches Jeddah Islamic Port the same day with no long road leg, which makes Jeddah the fastest and best-value Saudi city on North African routes.

From Jeddah the container sails the Red Sea through the Suez Canal into the Mediterranean, reaching Tanger Med in 12 – 16 days and Casablanca in 15 – 20 days, usually after transshipment at Tanger Med.

After arrival the container is cleared at the port within several working days, then taken to your address, unloaded and the furniture reassembled, which is why times are quoted door to door, not port to port.

Mode Time Best for Starts from
Shared sea (LCL) 30 – 40 days A room, items or cartons SAR 3,240 per room
20 ft container 25 – 35 days A full apartment priced by volume
40 ft container 25 – 35 days A villa or large home priced by volume
Car by sea 25 – 35 days Cars priced by car type
Air 3 – 5 days Urgent parcels and documents SAR 370

The trip step by step

Stage Time
Dismantling, packing and loading 1 – 2 days
Jeddah to Jeddah port same day
Sailing to Tanger Med 12 – 16 days
Sailing to Casablanca 15 – 20 days
Clearance at the Moroccan port 3 – 7 working days
Delivery and reassembly 1 – 3 days

At Morocco’s ports the container is inspected and matched against the list, then released once any dues are paid, so we prepare the list in Arabic and French with the condition and value of items before sailing, which shortens clearance.

Tip: prepare the certificate of change of residence and the dated, signed inventory before shipping; they are the basis of the exemption at the first import operation at the Moroccan port.

Furniture moving from Jeddah to Morocco

Jeddah homes need packing that accounts for coastal humidity before a sea voyage: the carpenter dismantles kitchens, wardrobes and beds and numbers every part, packers wrap each piece in moisture-resistant layers, and the supervisor writes the packing list in front of you with a French translation for customs.

Furniture being packed in Jeddah for Morocco
Multi-layer sea packing before container loading.

Packing for sea freight

A sea voyage is longer than a road trip and the container faces humidity and temperature changes, so we pack for the sea, not just the road: a blanket layer for wood, then bubble wrap, then corrugated corner protection, desiccant bags inside the container, heavy pieces at the bottom and the load strapped with belts and separating boards.

Majlis sets and carpets

Numbered bags for cushions; carpets rolled on a core with moisture protection.

Kitchens

Cabinets dismantled in order, numbered and photographed first.

Beds and wardrobes

Full dismantling with screws kept with each piece.

Glass and marble

Treated, padded wooden crates.

Air conditioners

Gas pumped down and pipes sealed.

Appliances

Fridges and washers dried before packing to prevent mould.

Dismantling by carpenters

Large wardrobes, bedrooms and kitchens are dismantled by carpenters who know the assembly order; every panel is numbered and screws go into numbered bags tied to the piece, so the furniture goes back together in your new home exactly as it was.

Where we collect in Jeddah

Every district of Jeddah: the north such as Obhur, Ash Shati and Al Mohammadiyah, the centre such as Ar Rawdah, As Safa and As Salamah, the south such as Al Hamdaniyah and As Samer, plus Makkah, Taif and Rabigh.

Car shipping from Jeddah to Morocco

Cars are shipped to Morocco by sea on a roll-on/roll-off vessel where the car is driven aboard, or inside a closed container for luxury cars, after their condition is documented with photos and the odometer reading. Note that the furniture exemption on change of residence does not cover the car: the car follows a separate procedure with Moroccan customs, which differs between temporary entry for a visit and final import, where duties depend on the car’s age and value.

Shipping a car from Jeddah to Morocco
The car is shipped by sea after its condition is documented.
  • Price: by car type, size and arrival port
  • Documents: registration, export certificate and export plates, owner passport
  • Final import: a customs procedure separate from the furniture exemption
  • Financed car: needs a no-objection letter from the finance provider

Air freight from Jeddah to Morocco

Documents and urgent parcels fly from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to Casablanca, Rabat or Marrakesh in 3 – 5 days door to door, priced a parcel up to 5 kg from SAR 370.

Parcel Starts from Time
Up to 5 kg SAR 370 3 – 5 days
Above 5 kg priced by weight 3 – 5 days
Documents SAR 460 3 – 5 days

Air freight is charged by actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, so it suits documents, permitted personal medicines, gifts and small devices, not furniture.

Cartons, gifts and dates

Clothes cartons, gifts and packed dates travel in the shared sea load; a standard carton starts from SAR 65. Write the receiver’s name and number on every carton, keep liquids away from clothes, and do not overfill cartons so they do not burst when stacked in the container.

Customs and documents in Morocco

Moroccans living abroad who change their residence to Morocco benefit from a customs exemption on used furniture, personal effects and clothing, provided they prove their socio-professional status abroad, such as a residence permit or employment contract. The certificate of change of residence and the inventory are presented at the first import operation, and two successive shipments are allowed within 6 months of the change of residence through the same customs office.

Documents for a Jeddah to Morocco shipment
A detailed packing list speeds up clearance at the destination port.
  1. Certificate of change of residence: from the host-country authorities or a statement legalised by the consulate
  2. Detailed packing list: dated and signed by the owner
  3. Proof of status abroad: residence permit, employment contract or trader card
  4. Passport: in the same name as the bill of lading
  5. Bill of lading: issued on sailing
Condition Detail
Used goods used furniture, personal effects and clothing
Household appliances one unit per category
Time limit two shipments within 6 months of the change of residence
Customs office the same office for both shipments
Not covered commercial goods and cars

For more details read Moroccan customs for shipments from Saudi Arabia.

What cannot be shipped to Morocco

Prohibited

weapons and replicas, narcotics, explosives, flammables and gas cylinders, non-compliant publications.

Restricted

medicines in quantity, plants and seeds, food, drones and telecom devices.

Carry with you

cash, gold, jewellery and original documents.

We go through the list with you before loading, because one prohibited item can hold the whole container at the destination port and add storage charges.

Temporary storage

If your home in Morocco is not ready yet, we store your belongings in a closed warehouse in Jeddah on contracts starting from one month, then ship them on the date you choose.

What you may pay in Morocco besides the shipping price

  • Duties and tax: on anything beyond the exemption and on new items
  • Port storage: if documents are late
  • Port clearance: the Moroccan broker’s fee
  • The car: its duties are separate from the furniture exemption

Before booking we explain what may be due on your shipment based on your situation, so nothing comes as a surprise on arrival.

How the cost is calculated

Start with the room volumes in the table; if the total passes about 25 cubic metres, compare with the full-container price, then add extra items, cartons and any wooden crates.

Example: a two-bedroom apartment in As Safa of about 20 m³ to Casablanca: from SAR 9,065, and a single bedroom alone from SAR 3,240.

The cheapest way to ship from Jeddah to Morocco

  • Shared sea freight: for a room, items and cartons
  • A full container: for more than about 25 m³
  • Reduce volume: leave out old mattresses and particle-board furniture
  • Book early: before peak seasons
  • Air only for urgent items: since it is priced per kilo

On a long sea voyage to Morocco, sorting before shipping has a clearer effect on the bill, so we advise shipping majlis sets, carpets, good wooden bedrooms and used appliances, and not shipping new appliances in their boxes, since they may be treated as goods.

E-commerce parcels and samples

For online stores and small businesses in Jeddah we ship parcels and samples to their customers in Morocco in the shared road load, or by air for urgent orders. We collect from your warehouse, label every parcel with the receiver details and send you proof of delivery. Repeated quantities are treated as commercial goods with an invoice and certificate of origin.

How to choose the right shipping company

Price alone is not enough to judge a shipping company: a shipment held at the border or delivered broken costs more than any price difference. Before booking, check the following:

  1. Commercial registration and licence: for international shipping and transport
  2. Border experience: and filing the Fasah export declaration before departure
  3. A clear price: stating what is included: dismantling, packing, reassembly and fees
  4. A carpenter for dismantling and reassembly: not just movers
  5. Optional insurance: as a percentage of the declared value
  6. Tracking and updates: load photos and notices at the border and on arrival

Return shipping from Morocco to Saudi Arabia

If you are moving back from Morocco to Jeddah or any city in the Kingdom, we run the same trip in reverse: a photo survey, dismantling, packing and loading at your address there, then the crossing, delivery and reassembly at your home. Used personal furniture returning with its owner is usually treated as personal effects, provided the packing list is clear and matches the load.

Common mistakes that cost customers

  • A vague packing list: invites a full inspection at the port
  • New appliances in their boxes: are treated as goods and taxed
  • Shipment timing: that does not match the owner’s residence dates
  • Prohibited items: hold the container
  • Late documents: add port storage charges
  • Skipping insurance: on a long sea voyage

Shipment insurance

We recommend insurance for sea freight because the voyage is long and the container passes through several handlings. Insurance is optional, priced as a percentage of the declared value, and covers breakage, damage and loss, with photos of your belongings taken before packing.
