The Saudi Arabia to Syria route: distance, crossing and transit time

There is no direct land border between the Kingdom and Syria, so road shipments cross Jordan in transit. Shipments from Riyadh, the Eastern Province, Al Qassim, Hail and Al Jouf usually exit through Al-Haditha, facing the Jordanian Al-Omari post, while shipments from Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and Tabuk exit through Halat Ammar, facing the Jordanian Al-Mudawwara post.

Either way the truck reaches the Jordanian Jaber crossing, facing the Syrian Nasib post, then about 100 km to Damascus and on to the other governorates. Damascus is about 1,300 km from Al Jouf and Al Qassim, about 1,600 km from Riyadh, about 1,700 km from Jeddah and about 1,800 km from Dammam.

Mode Approx. time Best for Starts from
Shared road load 6 – 9 days A room, single items, cartons SAR 45
Dedicated truck 5 – 8 days Full household moves, commercial cargo Depends on truck
Enclosed car carrier 5 – 9 days Cars SAR 3,240
Air 2 – 4 days Documents and urgent parcels By weight
Sea to Latakia and Tartus 12 – 20 days Commercial containers Per container

Times start on the collection day and include routine border procedures.

What happens at the four crossings?

Stop Procedure
Al-Haditha (Saudi Arabia) The Fasah export declaration is matched against the load and exit is stamped
Al-Omari (Jordan) The truck is registered in transit and the load sealed to cross Jordan
Jaber (Jordan) Transit is closed and seals are checked
Nasib (Syria) Syrian customs clearance and inspection, then release

The crossings get busy in holiday and Eid seasons, so we file the Fasah export declaration before departure from any city, prepare the Jordanian transit papers with the carrier and send the Syrian receiver details in advance to the broker at Nasib.

The trip day by day

Stage Time
Collection, dismantling, packing and loading 1 – 2 days
Your city to the exit crossing 10 hours from Al Qassim to 14 hours from Riyadh
Saudi exit and Jordanian entry posts hours to one day
Jordan transit, then Jaber and Nasib 1 – 2 days
Nasib to Damascus and delivery 1 day
To shorten transit: have the receiver’s Syrian ID or passport and Syrian phone number ready before loading; incomplete receiver details are the most common reason shipments are held at Nasib.

Shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Syria

We price furniture by cubic metre because a truck fills by volume before weight. Prices include dismantling, packing, loading, transport, delivery and reassembly at destination. The price is confirmed after you send photos of the rooms or after a survey, and does not change after loading as long as the items match the list.

Household move prices by size

Shipment Volume Starts from
Single bedroom 6 – 9 m³ SAR 1,390
Master bedroom 10 – 14 m³ SAR 3,590
Studio or one-bedroom 8 – 12 m³ SAR 3,130
Two-bedroom apartment 16 – 24 m³ SAR 3,900
Three-bedroom apartment 25 – 38 m³ SAR 4,160
Medium villa 40 – 60 m³ SAR 9,570
Large villa 65 – 95 m³ SAR 15,200

Fridge or washing machine SAR 550
Split AC, complete SAR 460

Single items carry a minimum invoice, so if you have more than five large pieces ask for the full-room price, which is usually better value.

Furniture moving from Saudi Arabia to Syria

Moving a home starts with a survey or photos of the rooms wherever you are in the Kingdom. A carpenter then dismantles kitchens, wardrobes and beds and numbers every part, packers wrap each piece in layers suited to its material, and the supervisor writes the packing list in front of you before loading. The longer the trip, the more layers of protection and the tighter the load is strapped.

Layered packing suited to each material before loading.

Dismantling by carpenters

Large wardrobes, bedrooms and kitchens are dismantled by carpenters who know the assembly order, not just by movers. Every panel is numbered, and screws and hinges go into numbered bags tied to the piece itself, so the wardrobe goes back together in your new home exactly as it was, with no missing parts or new holes.

Packing guide by material

Wood and lacquer

Moving blanket, then bubble wrap, then cardboard edges.

Majlis and carpets

Numbered bags for cushions; carpets rolled on a core.

Marble and glass

Wooden crates lined with foam.

Appliances

Fridge switched off 6 hours earlier; washer drum locked.

TVs

Double cartons or a dedicated box.

Clothes

Wardrobe cartons that keep clothes hanging.

When is a wooden crate needed?

Standard packing is enough for most furniture, but marble tops, large mirrors, chandeliers, antiques and valuable equipment need a crate built to size, because pressure in the truck or vibration on the road can break them even when well wrapped. We identify these pieces during the survey and price their crates in advance.

Air conditioners and kitchens

A split AC is removed after the gas is pumped down into the outdoor unit, and the pipes are sealed against moisture; it is reinstalled at destination and recharged if needed. Kitchens are photographed before dismantling, cabinets are numbered right to left, and the new kitchen space is measured first, because custom kitchens may not fit without adjustment.

Areas we collect from in the Kingdom

The Eastern Province (Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Qatif, Jubail and Al Ahsa), Riyadh and Al Kharj, Al Qassim and Hail, Jeddah, Makkah, Taif, Madinah and Yanbu, Tabuk, and Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran. Shipments are consolidated in Riyadh, Al Qassim or Jeddah before departure.

Dedicated truck or shared load?

Comparison Dedicated truck Shared load
Transit 5 – 8 days 6 – 9 days
Cost Fixed per truck By your volume
Best for A full house or villa A room, items or cartons

Homes above roughly 25 cubic metres are usually cheaper with a dedicated truck; a room, a few items or cartons are cheaper in a shared load that splits the road cost.

Car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Syria

Cars are moved from Saudi Arabia to Syria on enclosed carriers with full covers and wheel straps, arriving in 5 – 9 days. We document the car’s condition with photos and the odometer reading at collection, and the receiver signs the condition report on delivery.

Covered car on an enclosed carrier in Saudi Arabia for Syria
An enclosed carrier protects the car all the way to Damascus.
  • Price: a small car starts from SAR 3,240; the price varies by type, size and delivery city
  • Documents: registration (istimara), owner’s ID, authorisation if shipped by someone else, and the export procedure
  • Registration: according to current Syrian import decisions

See our Syria documents and customs guide for inspection and registration after arrival.

Cartons, gifts and dates

Clothes cartons, gifts and Qassim, Al Ahsa and Madinah dates travel in the shared load; a standard carton starts from SAR 45. Write the receiver’s name and Syrian number on every carton, keep liquids apart from clothes, and do not overfill cartons so they do not burst when stacked. Commercial quantities of dates need an invoice and a certificate of origin.

Electrical appliances

Syrian mains voltage is 220 V like the Kingdom, so household appliances work without adapters. TVs travel in double cartons, removable batteries are taken out, and new appliances in their boxes are listed separately because they are treated as goods.

Commercial shipping from Saudi Arabia to Syria

We serve traders and factories in every region of the Kingdom with full or part loads to Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and the industrial zones, arranging transit through Jordan and clearance at Nasib. GCC-origin goods are treated under the GCC customs union rules with a certificate of origin; other goods are subject to the applicable customs duties, and they are subject to the Syrian customs tariff and the list of goods permitted for import. Documents: commercial invoice, commercial registration, certificate of origin, packing list and a Fasah export declaration.

We review the item list before loading, because a commercial truck held at Nasib over one item that needs prior approval is delayed in full and may incur waiting charges.

Air freight from Saudi Arabia to Syria

Documents and urgent parcels fly from Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam airports to Damascus International Airport in two to four days. For containers, Jeddah Islamic Port connects to Latakia and Tartus via the Suez Canal in 12 – 18 days.

Comparison Road Air Sea
Time 5 – 9 days 2 – 4 days 12 – 20 days
Cost Cheapest for household goods Highest For containers
Best for Furniture and cars Documents and urgent items Traders

Air freight is charged by actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, so it suits small, relatively heavy parcels such as documents, permitted personal medicines and small devices, not furniture.

Documents required for shipping from Saudi Arabia to Syria

Documents and packing list for a Saudi Arabia to Syria shipment
A detailed packing list shortens procedures at Nasib.
  1. Sender: national ID or iqama
  2. Receiver: Syrian ID or passport and a Syrian phone number
  3. Packing list: one clear line per carton and item
  4. Value declaration: realistic, not understated
  5. Export declaration: via the Fasah platform
  6. Traders: invoice, commercial registration and certificate of origin

A vague description such as “household items” invites a full inspection, while a detailed list with carton numbers lets any random check finish in minutes. More in our Syria documents and customs guide.

What cannot be shipped to Syria

Prohibited

fuel, gas and paints, gas cylinders even when empty, pesticides and chemicals, perishables, weapons and replicas, damaged batteries.

Restricted

commercial quantities of medicines, unapproved wireless devices, plants and animals, non-compliant printed material.

Carry with you

cash, gold, jewellery and original documents.

We go through the list with you before loading; details in our Syria documents and customs guide.

Steps to ship from Saudi Arabia to Syria

  1. Send photos: on WhatsApp 0561247112
  2. Get the price: by volume and delivery city
  3. Pick a date: for collection
  4. Dismantling and packing: at your home
  5. Departure: from your city towards Al-Haditha or Halat Ammar
  6. Crossing: Al-Haditha, Jordan transit, then Nasib

What happens when your shipment reaches Syria?

After release at Nasib the truck reaches Damascus in about an hour and a half, and shipments are distributed to the other governorates from there. The supervisor calls the receiver to set the time, the pieces are unloaded and placed in rooms by their numbers, the crew reassembles beds, wardrobes and the kitchen, belongings are checked in front of the receiver and the delivery report is signed.

Delivery and reassembly across Syria.

Daraa and As-Suwayda 5 – 8 days by city
Homs and Hama 6 – 9 days
Aleppo 7 – 10 days
Latakia and Tartus 7 – 10 days

Temporary storage

If your home in Syria is not ready yet, we store your belongings in a closed warehouse in the Kingdom on contracts starting from one month, then ship them on the date you choose.

What you may pay in Syria besides the shipping price

  • Syrian customs duties: on new appliances, goods and commercial quantities
  • Transit fees: through Jordan, usually included in the price
  • Waiting charges: if documents are delayed at any crossing
  • Insurance: optional, as a percentage of value

Used personal furniture is usually treated as personal effects, and before booking we explain anything that may be due on your shipment so nothing comes as a surprise on arrival.

Shipping prices to Syria by city

The price depends on the distance between your city and the border. The table summarises starting prices and times to Syria by region; for other cities we send the price once we know the city and volume:

Region Single bedroom from Two-bedroom apartment from Time
Dammam and Khobar SAR 2,030 SAR 5,980 6 – 8 days
Al Ahsa SAR 2,030 SAR 5,980 6 – 8 days
Al Qassim SAR 2,210 SAR 5,980 5 – 7 days
Riyadh SAR 2,115 SAR 5,980 5 – 8 days
Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah SAR 1,390 SAR 3,900 6 – 9 days

Jordan transit: what it means for your shipment

A shipment heading to Syria is not normally opened in Jordan: it is registered in transit on entry and the load is sealed, then crosses Jordan to the Jaber crossing, where seals are checked before exit to Nasib. So the packing list must match the load from the start, because any mismatch found at the first crossing delays the truck at every crossing after it.

We handle transit papers with the carrier and tell you the actual time at each crossing, so you need no procedure in Jordan.

New appliances and goods: how Syrian customs treat them

Used furniture and personal belongings are usually treated as household effects, while new appliances in their boxes and repeated quantities of the same item are treated as goods, subject to the Syrian customs tariff and the list of goods permitted for import. So we list them separately with their invoices, keeping clearance at Nasib clear and quick.

Before shipping we review the list with you and tell you what needs an invoice or approval, and what is better bought in Syria than shipped.

How the cost is calculated

Start with the room volumes from the price table, add extra items and cartons, then any wooden crates. If the total exceeds the price of a dedicated truck, ask for one instead of the shared load.

Example: a two-bedroom apartment of about 20 m³ to Damascus: from SAR 3,900 from Jeddah and SAR 5,980 from Riyadh, the Eastern Province and Al Qassim.

The cheapest way to ship from Saudi Arabia to Syria

  • Shared load: from the consolidation city closest to you
  • Reduce volume: leave out old mattresses and worn particle-board furniture
  • One shipment: instead of scattered batches
  • Book early: before holidays and peak seasons
  • Pack cartons yourself: for clothes and books

Over more than 1,300 km and four border posts, sorting before shipping affects the bill from any city, so we advise shipping majlis sets, carpets, good wooden bedrooms and modern appliances, and replacing old mattresses and particle-board furniture in Syria.

Who our service suits

Relocating families

A full house with the kitchen and majlis.

People working in Syria

Cartons, gifts and single items.

Traders

Goods in full or part loads.

Car owners

Enclosed carriers.

Five steps before the crew arrives

  1. Sort your belongings: and set aside what cannot be shipped
  2. Empty the fridge: and switch it off 6 hours earlier
  3. Photograph the kitchen and appliances: before dismantling
  4. Prepare receiver details: Syrian ID and phone number
  5. Book the building permit: in Syria

Tips for your new home in Syria

  • Electricity and water: transferred or opened with the housing contract and ID
  • First-days carton: with essentials and tools
  • Measurements: measure the kitchen and wardrobe spaces in the new home

E-commerce parcels and samples

For online stores and small businesses in Saudi Arabia we ship parcels and samples to their customers in Syria in the shared road load, or by air for urgent orders. We collect from your warehouse, label every parcel with the receiver details and send you proof of delivery. Repeated quantities are treated as commercial goods with an invoice and certificate of origin.

How to choose the right shipping company

Price alone is not enough to judge a shipping company: a shipment held at the border or delivered broken costs more than any price difference. Before booking, check the following:

  1. Commercial registration and licence: for international shipping and transport
  2. Border experience: and filing the Fasah export declaration before departure
  3. A clear price: stating what is included: dismantling, packing, reassembly and fees
  4. A carpenter for dismantling and reassembly: not just movers
  5. Optional insurance: as a percentage of the declared value
  6. Tracking and updates: load photos and notices at the border and on arrival

Return shipping from Syria to Saudi Arabia

If you are moving back from Syria to Saudi Arabia or any city in the Kingdom, we run the same trip in reverse: a photo survey, dismantling, packing and loading at your address there, then the crossing, delivery and reassembly at your home. Used personal furniture returning with its owner is usually treated as personal effects, provided the packing list is clear and matches the load.

Common mistakes that cost customers

  • Incomplete receiver details: hold the shipment at Nasib
  • Vague carton descriptions: invite a full inspection
  • Understated value: can stop the shipment
  • Prohibited items: such as gas and paints
  • Building permit not ready: postpones delivery
  • Skipping insurance: on valuable furniture

Shipment insurance

Optional insurance, priced as a percentage of the declared value, covers breakage, damage and loss in transit. We recommend it for valuable furniture and appliances, together with photos of your belongings before packing and noting any remark on the delivery report before signing.
