Route and transit time from Al Qassim to Oman

The road distance from Buraidah to Muscat is about 1,650 km, roughly 17 – 18 hours of driving before stops and border time. From Al Qassim the truck heads south to Riyadh, then east towards Al-Batha, and on to the Saudi–Omani road through Shaybah to the Rub Al Khali crossing.

This road opened in December 2021 and is about 564 km long on the Saudi side, from the Al-Batha junction to the crossing. The Rub Al Khali crossing faces Oman’s Ramlat Khaylah crossing, and from there the road continues to Ibri in Al Dhahirah governorate and on to Muscat. The crossing has a cargo yard handling around 966 trucks a day, which has made direct shipping to Oman faster than the older route through the UAE.

Procedures at Rub Al Khali and Ramlat Khaylah 1 – 3 days

Note: the road crosses the Empty Quarter desert for long stretches, so we use closed trucks and pack furniture tightly against dust and heat, and we advise against shipping heat-sensitive materials with household goods.

Shipping prices from Al Qassim to Oman

The long distance makes Oman pricier than Kuwait or Bahrain, but still far cheaper than air freight. We price furniture by cubic metre, parcels by weight and full trucks by size. These are starting prices; the final price is confirmed once we know the volume, the scope of service and the Omani city.

We use cubic metres because a truck fills up by volume before weight, and on a trip of more than 1,600 km every cubic metre counts. That is why an inventory before pricing is the key step: a photo of each room or a list of pieces is enough for a price very close to the final one.

  • Parcel up to 5 kg: from SAR 110
  • Parcel 5 – 10 kg: from SAR 200
  • Parcel 10 – 20 kg: from SAR 350
  • Commercial goods up to 50 kg: from SAR 645
  • Complete single bedroom: from SAR 1,750
  • Full small truck: from SAR 4,150; large truck from SAR 6,000

Three-bedroom apartment 25 – 38 m³ SAR 7,960
Medium villa 40 – 60 m³ SAR 12,830
Large villa 65 – 95 m³ SAR 20,420

Includes dismantling, packing, loading, transport, delivery and reassembly in Muscat. Delivery to Salalah or Sur adds the distance difference.

Single item prices

Item Starts from
Four-door wardrobe SAR 830
Master bed with mattress SAR 690
Arabic majlis, 9 pieces SAR 1,650
European sofa, 7 seats SAR 1,290
Dining table with 6 chairs SAR 830
Fridge or washing machine SAR 415
Complete split AC SAR 320

Single items travel in a shared truck with a minimum invoice, so if you have more than five large pieces, a complete room is usually cheaper than adding up item prices.

Car shipping from Al Qassim to Oman

Alrahwan Golden carries cars from Al Qassim to Oman on dedicated carriers through the Rub Al Khali crossing in 5 – 8 days. We collect the car from your location, document its condition with photos and the odometer, strap it at the wheels, and deliver it in Muscat or the city you choose.

Car shipping from Al Qassim to Oman through the Rub Al Khali crossing
The car is secured on the carrier and documented before the long journey.
  • Price: set by car type, size and delivery city; send the model and year to get it
  • Open carrier: the most economical, carrying several cars
  • Dedicated flatbed: for luxury and lowered cars
  • Documents: registration, owner’s ID, an authorisation when shipping on the owner’s behalf, and the vehicle export procedure
  • Before shipping: empty the car, leave a quarter tank of fuel and hand over the spare key
Check the Royal Oman Police and Omani customs requirements for registering imported vehicles, especially on model year and specifications, before booking transport.

Furniture moving from Al Qassim to Oman

The trip to Oman is longer than to nearby Gulf destinations, so packing carries more weight with us: a blanket layer against friction, stretch film against dust, card corners for the edges, and a wooden crate for glass, marble and antiques.

Packing furniture in Al Qassim before moving to Oman
Multi-layer packing suited to a long trip across the Empty Quarter.

Dismantling by carpenters

Beds and wardrobes are dismantled and their screws bagged and taped to each piece.

Air conditioners

Gas recovered, pipes sealed, both units wrapped separately.

Kitchens

Cabinets dismantled and numbered in order; built-in appliances wrapped.

Fridges and washers

Emptied, dried and moving parts secured.

Glass and antiques

Double-wall cartons or a wooden crate depending on size and value.

Reassembly

Beds, wardrobes and the kitchen reassembled in your home in the Sultanate.

On long trips heavy pieces are loaded low and towards the front of the truck with light cartons on top, and the load is strapped with dividers so nothing shifts on desert roads. Each carton carries the room name and its number on the list, so the delivery team in Oman knows where every piece goes without asking.

The pickup team of a supervisor, a carpenter and several workers, depending on the home size, arrives with full packing materials, and the supervisor writes the packing list in front of you; you receive a copy before the truck departs.

Before the team arrives

  • Decide what moves: and what stays in Al Qassim
  • Empty drawers: into cartons labelled with the room name
  • Switch off the fridge: at least six hours ahead
  • Carry valuables with you: gold, cash and original documents

What happens on arrival in Oman?

After Ramlat Khaylah the truck heads to the delivery city and the supervisor calls the receiver to confirm the time. Furniture is unloaded and placed by room according to the numbers, the team reassembles the pieces, everything is checked in front of you and the delivery report is signed, with any remark recorded at once.

Temporary storage

If your home in Oman is not ready, we store the furniture in a closed warehouse in Al Qassim on a contract from one month and ship it when you ask.

Dedicated truck or shared load to Oman?

Comparison Dedicated truck Shared load
Time 5 – 7 days 6 – 8 days
Cost From SAR 4,150 for a small truck Based on your volume
Date You choose the loading day Based on the next trip
Best for Full house or villa A room, items or cartons

On the long Oman trip the difference between the two is clearer: large homes save with a dedicated truck because its price is fixed however full it is, while small shipments benefit from sharing the cost of the road with other loads.

Shipping to Salalah and Dhofar

Salalah is the furthest Omani city from the Rub Al Khali route, about 1,000 km south of Muscat. Shipments reach it a day or two after Muscat on a dedicated distribution truck or the southern run, and the distance difference is added to the price clearly before loading.

Shipping cartons and parcels from Al Qassim to Oman

For personal belongings, gifts or clothes only, we offer consolidated shipping in a shared truck, so you pay by weight and volume.

Parcel Starts from Time
Up to 5 kg SAR 110 6 – 8 days by road
5 – 10 kg SAR 200 6 – 8 days
10 – 20 kg SAR 350 6 – 8 days
Urgent parcel by air by weight 2 – 3 days

Write the receiver’s name and Omani number on every carton, include a contents list, and keep perfumes and liquids away from clothes.

Shipping dates and Al Qassim products to Oman

Packed Al Qassim dates travel in their original cartons in the shared load for gift quantities, while commercial quantities need an invoice, certificate of origin and health certificate according to the Sultanate’s import requirements.

Commercial shipping from Al Qassim to Oman

For traders and factories we offer an FTL full truckload, with small trucks from SAR 4,150 and large trucks from SAR 6,000, and LTL part loads by pallet in a shared truck.

  • Documents: commercial invoice, commercial registration, certificate of origin and an export declaration on Fasah
  • Omani customs: the declaration is filed on the Sultanate’s electronic Bayan system
  • Food products: health certificates; chilled goods need a reefer truck booked in advance
  • Delivery: warehouses in Rusayl, Misfah industrial area, Sohar industrial area and Ibri

Goods of GCC origin are handled under the GCC Customs Union rules when a valid certificate of origin is presented, and Oman applies 5% VAT on taxable goods, so we review the invoice and origin before loading.

Air freight from Al Qassim to Oman

For urgent parcels and documents, the shipment goes from Al Qassim to the nearest airport with a cargo flight to Muscat International Airport, then to the address. Door-to-door air freight takes about 2 – 3 days including clearance.

  • Pricing: by actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher (L × W × H ÷ 6,000)
  • Price: send the parcel weight and dimensions on WhatsApp for a quote
  • Best for: documents, spare parts, gifts and light urgent items
  • Not for: furniture and large appliances because of the cost

Sea freight to Oman via Dammam port

For full containers and large commercial volumes, goods travel by road from Al Qassim to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, then by sea to Sohar port or Sultan Qaboos Port in Muscat in about 7 – 10 days. It is the slowest but the cheapest option for full containers.

Comparison Road via Rub Al Khali Air Sea
Time 5 – 7 days 2 – 3 days 7 – 10 days
Cost Medium Highest Lowest for containers
Best for Furniture, cars, cargo Urgent and light Full containers

Documents required for shipping from Al Qassim to Oman

Preparing shipping documents and the packing list from Al Qassim to Oman
A detailed packing list shortens inspection at Ramlat Khaylah.
  1. Sender’s ID: national ID or iqama
  2. Receiver: copy of the Omani ID card, resident card or passport, and an Omani phone number
  3. Packing list: one line per carton and piece: number, description, condition and value
  4. Value declaration: a realistic value separating new from used
  5. Export declaration: on the Fasah platform in Saudi Arabia
  6. Traders: commercial invoice, commercial registration and certificate of origin
  7. Cars: registration, owner ID and export procedure

At Ramlat Khaylah the packing list is matched against the load, and the truck may be X-rayed or cartons opened at random. A detailed numbered list makes inspection quick; a vague description makes it longer.

How does clearance at Omani customs work?

The shipment is registered on Oman customs’ electronic Bayan system before or on arrival, with the packing list, value declaration and a copy of the receiver’s ID attached. After matching and inspection, any fees due are paid and the truck is released to the delivery city. Preparing these papers in advance is what makes the crossing take one day instead of three.

Duties and taxes on arrival

Personal effects and used furniture moving with their owner are usually treated as personal belongings, while new and commercial goods are assessed by customs and may be subject to 5% VAT. These charges are usually paid by the receiver, and we explain what to expect before loading.

Prohibited and restricted items for Oman

Not allowed with your items

Gas, fuel, paints and solvents, gas cylinders, pesticides, perishables, weapons and ammunition, damaged batteries.

Prior permission

Medicines in commercial quantities, unapproved wireless devices, plants and seeds, animal products.

Carry it yourself

Cash, gold, jewellery and original documents.

Steps to ship from Al Qassim to Oman

  2. Get your price: based on volume, Omani city and scope of service
  3. Set the date: pickup day in your Al Qassim city
  4. Dismantling and packing: double packing suited to the long trip
  5. Loading and departure: towards Riyadh, then Al-Batha, then the Rub Al Khali
  6. Border: Rub Al Khali, then Ramlat Khaylah
  7. Delivery and assembly: in Muscat or your city

Delivery across the governorates of Oman

Delivering an Al Qassim shipment in the Sultanate of Oman
Delivery in Muscat and other governorates after clearance.
Governorate Main cities Time from Al Qassim
Al Dhahirah Ibri, Yanqul, Dhank 4 – 6 days
Ad Dakhiliyah Nizwa, Bahla, Izki 5 – 7 days
Muscat Muscat, Seeb, Bawshar, Muttrah, Amerat 5 – 7 days
Al Buraimi Al Buraimi, Mahdah 5 – 7 days
North and South Al Batinah Sohar, Saham, Rustaq, Barka 6 – 8 days
Ash Sharqiyah Sur, Ibra, Jalan 6 – 8 days
Dhofar Salalah 7 – 9 days

The route enters the Sultanate at Ramlat Khaylah towards Ibri, so shipments reach Al Dhahirah and Ad Dakhiliyah first, then Muscat and Al Batinah, while Salalah in the south needs one or two extra days.

How is the shipping cost from Al Qassim to Oman calculated?

  • Volume in cubic metres: the biggest factor for furniture
  • Delivery city: Salalah and Sur are further than Muscat and Ibri
  • Packing level: the long trip needs stronger packing
  • Dismantling and assembly: depends on the number and complexity of pieces
  • Truck type: shared is cheaper, dedicated is faster
  • Special items: wooden crates for glass and antiques
  • Season: seasons and holidays are busier
Example: a two-bedroom apartment in Buraidah of about 20 m³ moved to Muscat with dismantling, packing and reassembly starts from SAR 4,920. A master bedroom, a fridge, a washer and 10 cartons in a shared load: 2,670 + 830 + 450 = about SAR 3,950.

Who our service suits

Relocating families

full home moves with dismantling, assembly and insurance.

People working in Oman

Traders and farms

dates, products and equipment by full or part truckload.

Car owners

cars carried to your Omani city.

The cheapest way to ship from Al Qassim to Oman

  • Shared truck: the best value if you do not fill a whole truck
  • Reduce volume: the long trip makes every cubic metre costlier, so leave old pieces behind
  • A full truck for large homes: from SAR 4,150, which can beat per-cubic-metre pricing for villas
  • Book early: before peak seasons
  • Avoid air for heavy items: road freight is several times cheaper

Car shipping: final export or temporary entry?

Before shipping your car from Al Qassim to Oman, decide which procedure applies, because the documents differ. Final export is for people relocating who want to register the car at destination; it needs a traffic export certificate and export plates, then inspection and registration there. Temporary entry is for a car needed for a set period and then returned, using a customs transit carnet (triptyque) for a limited time.

Comparison Final export Temporary entry
Suits Relocation A visit or temporary work
Documents Registration, export certificate, export plates, owner ID Registration, driving licence, customs transit carnet
At destination Inspection, registration and local plates Use for a set period, then return
Fees According to destination rules Deposit or guarantee per the carnet
  • Financed car: needs a no-objection letter from the finance provider before export
  • Electric car: shipped with the battery between 30% and 50% and non-essential systems off
  • Inside the car: no personal items or original documents are left inside
  • Shipping on behalf of the owner: an electronic authorisation from the owner is required

E-commerce parcels and samples

For online stores and small businesses in Al Qassim we ship parcels and samples to their customers in Oman in the shared road load, or by air for urgent orders. We collect from your warehouse, label every parcel with the receiver details and send you proof of delivery. Repeated quantities are treated as commercial goods with an invoice and certificate of origin.

How to choose the right shipping company

Price alone is not enough to judge a shipping company: a shipment held at the border or delivered broken costs more than any price difference. Before booking, check the following:

  1. Commercial registration and licence: for international shipping and transport
  2. Border experience: and filing the Fasah export declaration before departure
  3. A clear price: stating what is included: dismantling, packing, reassembly and fees
  4. A carpenter for dismantling and reassembly: not just movers
  5. Optional insurance: as a percentage of the declared value
  6. Tracking and updates: load photos and notices at the border and on arrival

In Oman, import procedures are completed through the Bayan system, so we prepare the packing list, value and receiver details to match what the system requires before the truck arrives.

Return shipping from Oman to Saudi Arabia

If you are moving back from Oman to Al Qassim or any city in the Kingdom, we run the same trip in reverse: a photo survey, dismantling, packing and loading at your address there, then the crossing, delivery and reassembly at your home. Used personal furniture returning with its owner is usually treated as personal effects, provided the packing list is clear and matches the load.

Common mistakes when shipping to Oman

  • Light packing for a long trip: dust and heat affect unprotected furniture
  • Incomplete receiver details: hold the shipment at Ramlat Khaylah
  • Shipping heat-sensitive items: such as candles and pressurised cans
  • Vague packing list: prolongs inspection
  • Skipping insurance: a 1,650 km trip deserves cover for your belongings

Before loading day we review the list, documents, delivery address and receiver number with you, so the shipment arrives without stopping.

Insuring your shipment

Insurance is optional and calculated as a percentage of the declared value, covering breakage, damage and loss in transit under the policy terms. We strongly recommend it for the long Oman trip, and we photograph items before loading.
